Default New to 3D Programs

I have a question that might sound a little stupid, but I am hoping for a little bit of insight. I am pretty proficient in 2D vector and bitmap programs. I have been wanting to take a plunge into the 3D side of things, which leads to my question. Is it possible to teach yourself a program like Maya or 3D Max? These programs look very intimidating as far as the amount of information that has to be worked with in order to get something done.

Thanks,

Dan

Hello,

answer from your question (Is it possible to teach yourself a program like Maya or 3D Max? )

Yes its possible to teach it by yourself (like I did 1 year ago I started learning maya).
But you need to be really motivated because you have to work almost each day with it, and if you got problems..you have to find it by yourself if its isn't explained on a tutorial.

For max and maya, there are allot of tutorials (beginners tuts) so thats good

Its takes allot of your time, but with my experience, you won't get regret of it !

Have fun!

hi am dufy
well last year I found out that almost everyody at school wanted to do what I
was doing if I wanted to learn photoshop the whole class was interested
when I started dreamweaver alot asked for the software
so I decided I would go higher that it would seem impossible just to want to
do what am doing so I started 3d programs
researched it alot, looked up help files for any 3d term I came across
at this time I know exactly where everything suppose to be. given a 3d software
and now I want it for life

call yourself the untouchable(believe me the environment is always like the
engine of an aeroplane)

cheers

oh I started with lightwave
its simple because it separates the modelling part with the animation part as
two programs that way you can learn one interface at a time
now am using 3dmax and lightwave I never had to learn 3dmax's whole interface
I known a disected software 3dsmax just units the two

cheers
