Default January, 2013: Shield Turnaround

Hi all...

This month your challenge is to design and model an epic fantasy shield. Create a turnaround sheet of your model, which must be textured and shaded. The turnaround must include at least three views of the shield. The sheet does not need to be embellished with a bunch of graphics... keep it clean, simple and professional.

This should fit in the worlds of wow, oblivion, guild wars, etc.

Good Luck!

edit: winners announced!

Excellent topic, one I will enjoy doing. Anyone that can clarify more on the style of presentation Alex is mentioning - I know what it means, but is there a reference to see how it's actually done

Is it necessary to do low poly as the game would want it too, or can we do a high poly model.

Also was trying to find an overview spreadsheet of shields in the aforesaid games, came across only for wow tweet

@rocneasta:
It's the presentation of the shield, just keep it clean and don't clutter it with to much random stuff.

This is a good example of a clean way to show your models. Nothing obscuring the model or making it hard to read.

@BananaMan - thought it was something more complicated, as if it required a pedestal where the shield sits, not just a simple turnaround (rotating of the model).

cheers

I think extra stuff like a pedestal is exactly what he doesn't want.

A simple 3 angle turnaround without anything else to get in the way will probably be good. I am kinda curious whether we're expected to bake it down to low poly though.

Exactly what I asked, but I'm kinda leaning towards no we don't have to

Since it's just a turnaround sheet, and he's not asking for a wireframe image, I really don't think it's necessary to bake it down to low poly. This sounds more like concept art, so high poly, high detail.
