Default Gnomon Master Classes - Free Tickets!

Hello everyone!

Want to get a free ticket to our upcoming event? Read on...
btw, for detailed info on it, click here.

So as some of you may know, from November 9th-23rd, Gnomon will be hosting our second annual online Master Class event. I put together the line-up over the summer and I honestly can't wait to watch the lectures that the artists will be putting together! This is a wonderful opportunity for us all to learn from some exceptionally talented and experienced artists including Craig Mullins, Neville Page, Feng Zhu, artists from Blur (Sze and Nick) and Blizzard (Reo and Alvaro), and many more. Just too cool. There is so much to learn from their collective creativity, work experience and technique!

For the duration of the event, attendees will have access to a private forum where you can watch the lectures and interact with all sixteen instructors. Last year's event was a great experience where we received a ton of positive feedback from the instructors, students and professionals who attended.

Now while everyone always says that free is best, of course for something of this level we just can't afford free. But we have tried to make this as affordable as possible, and if you do the math, it is just $18 per Master Class ($14 if you're a student.). I think it is the deal of the year. But since the cost is so low, we really need to do a good job of spreading the word.

This is where the community can really make a difference and help us out... the more participation we can get from you guys and the more attendees, the greater the chance that we can continue to host these types of events for the global community.

So what can you do to help? Basically we need to spread the word both online and in person. This can be via forums, communities, social networks, sharing info with fellow classmates or instructors, asking your supervisors or Art Directors if your team can get tickets, or even putting a poster up on a bulletin board at school or at work. The main thing is that people just need to know that the event is coming up and that it is something that will inspire, motivate and educate people of all levels interested in the vfx and game industries.

Now I know that we are asking for your help and that everyone has limited time... so of course we want to reward you for your help! This is your chance to earn a free ticket to the event! Here is the plan... do what you can to help and then make a post in this thread with what you did. If you mentioned it online, provide a link. If you put up a flier or poster at school or work, or on a bulletin board in an art or comic book store, just snap a photo and post it! Just please don't bombard the same spot... we don't want 30 new identical threads at a forum. We definitely appreciate you being considerate of the places you visit.

We have 50(!) free tickets from Gnomon to give away, so the first 50 people who make posts that qualify will earn their spot in this years Master Class event! The selected winners will be announced every week until November 9th.

How do you qualify? As long as your post shows that you put some effort into it, you will get a ticket. If your post says that you stapled a flier to your dog and took him for a walk, then umm... no, and you shouldn't have pets. If you tweeted about it, but only have 2 followers, then perhaps not. But if you have 50,000 followers, and that is all you did... then ok. It is a combo of what you did and the impact.

As an extra incentive... the FIVE people who accomplish the most, will also get a free one year subscription to the brand new Gnomon Workshop online subscription library, worth $500. (Just launching today btw!!!).

And finally, the person who has the MOST impact will get: 1 Free Master Class Ticket, 1 Year subscription to the Gnomon Workshop online library, and 1 Free online class from the Gnomon School. Total value: $2400.

Winners will be announced on a weekly basis from now until November 9th. The top five spots will be announced on November 9th. So it is possible that next week we will have chosen all 50 winners already, so don't delay! We need your help and are going to be keeping a close eye on this thread!!!

Promotional Material:

Here are some items that could help you spread the word.

So I want to thank in advance anyone who chooses to participate in this Spread the Word effort for the Gnomon Master Classes. While Gnomon has the ability to spread the word about things on some level, we have tiny marketing team. Truly, your help is most appreciated!

Thanks to all and if you have any questions or ideas, just let me know!

-Alex

I come out of perpetual lurk to ask.... Does this count? >.> As soon as I read the email, I immediately began talking about it to my best friend, who now wants to do this as well!

Hello Alice... of course that counts! Just seeing your chat and that you guys think the Master Classes look cool makes me happy. It took a lot of work to line-up the group and knowing that people think its cool is awesome. Of course, I put these kind of things together just as much for myself as for the community, because I want to listen to these people too!

As I've always said... I created Gnomon because it is the school I wanted to go to, but couldn't find. And as I see the arts as a lifelong education, I have never lost my enthusiasm to learn from the experience of others. We all must continue on our personal growth paths. That is a big part of what makes our industry so wonderful... that there is so much to learn, that techniques and tools keep changing, and that there are amazing people out there who are willing to share their knowledge.

I about fell out of my chair when I saw that email. I've been eyeing all of the courses you provide here and have been DYING to be a part of a challenge but it always seems that life gets in the way. This is something that's totally up my alley though and it's an incredible opportunity... so much so that I'm not done spreading the word yet >.>

A good, large portion of my local friends are part of a Star Wars Fan Force chapter and there are plenty that are a part of creating their own fan films with visual effects and all. I figured that they were most definitely worthy of getting in on this action!

I also included it on my Facebook but the problem of privacy exists in my posting a link to that. Would it be alright for me to take a screenshot and censor names?

I posted a journal entry on my Deviantart.com page here: http://mavor.deviantart.com/

I also created an event on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?ei...659337&index=1

I'll see what else I can do but this is my start!

I've had people asking me if there is a way to sign up for individual classes. Not sure what to tell them. Help?
