Default question/introduction

Hi Guys

I am an IT engineer that is bored stupid in the type of roles i do, i have always wanted to go into 3d design and visual effects.

I have been using maya and zbrush on and off for a while but not really got to any real point where i can say i could possibly move from the role i am in so if i ask any questions that sound odd then its just because i am i suppose new to the type of industry that this is.

anyway the question i have is do you know what is the best way to create an ice cube/ice effect material wise for use within maya and mental ray?

Thanks for reading the ramble.

Dielectric_material is useful for ice, and glass. Or you can use mia_material_x and tweak one of the glass presets.

ah yeah, thanks guys.

another question, within the vfx/3d design industry does age count against you?

i realise that my background isnt 3d orientated but am willing to try my hardest. just worrying that maybe i go through the effort to be shot in the face by the age thing.

Question

Hi everyone,

I'm newbie and I also have one question. I'm student of computer science and technology. I'm currently working in JAVA language. I have the Netbeans editor for Java application development. It is tough to work with it. Do you know about any such Java editor?
