Default Dragon Fire: WIP thread of Christian

Here is the first progress ... as you see i am going for a diffrent approach to the topic.

Background: Working on a funfair is hard sometimes ... especially when it's a boring job in a ghost train where you have to frighten little children.

But sometimes at night, when you just want to smoke a cigarette and drink some beer in your coffee break ... something strange happens.

So better don't drink and work

Here are some shots from the progress:

cheers,
Christian

I made the rought concept in zbrush with mainly zspheres and spheres then exported as midpoly to c4d.
In c4d i use 3d snapping for retopo (i dont like do this in zbrush) and created clean uvw layouts.

There is a great plugin for c4d called riptide with that you can define polygroups for better handling
in zbrush (masking and hiding parts).

I need about 2 long nights to this stage.

Thank you ledux. I try to

I lost all the fine details i've modeled yesterday and especially this night since i used split group when splitting the
throusers from the rest of the mesh. I also deleted the shoe base geometry and modeled a better one. Anyone got the
idea if deleting the hidden geometry or groupsplit was the reason? It seems that the whole details are smoothed.

Anyhow ... here is the progress from this night. Try to learn more from the sculpting clothing tutorial from gnomonology.

nice job so far , and yeah the details get lost when hidden poly are deleted , experienced that too , i think its cause zbrush rearranges vertices numbers its like resubdividing as if u just imported ur lower base mesh , thats why details are lost , not sure really , usually to get around it i project details from old mesh to the new one , using subtools , but not very nice workflow , but if anyone have a solution to that , , it would be nice to hear , cya and again keep it up

Repost from the dragon war Thread:

I had to throw in the towel ... my one year old daughter is ill since last week so all my sparetime goes to her.
So it seems that i will not finish my sculpt in time.

I blocked out serveral basemeshes for draglins ... mixture of gremlin and small dragon ... to complete my sculpt.
But now i will provide one of them for free to you all for commercial and private projects.

You can grab it there: http://www.art-3d.com/?p=170

I hope you like it.

cheers,
Christian
