Question Probs with maya 2008 dips and MEL script...

i once said "finally i rendered a disp map in maya 2008!!!" or something like that... well it looks like it was a one time thing... i tried doing scot spencer's script but i think i'm not copying it corectly so if anyone know exactly what should go in the MEL script plz let me know... i'm not sure where scott's srcipt begins so i started copying from different part and i still get a syntax error..... plz anyone help... i hate autodesk so much....... LOL

funny thing is that the seams go away at first but then i get other bugs...
the script i copied was marcos' at zbrushcentral... scott's script was supposed to change all the aproxations nodes in the scene.... so here's scott's script and can anyone tell me where it start or what exactly should i copy plz

//COPY THE SCRIPT FROM HERE
// mental ray Subdivision Approximation script

// by scott spencer

//scott@scottspencer.com

//converts all subdivision approximation nodes in the scene from CCMesh to subdivision surface as well as sets the option

// to use maya style alpha detection

optionVar -iv "miUseMayaAlphaDetection" 1 -sv 1 1; //sets maya style alpha detection - mthe same as

// checking the Alpha is Luminance box in the file node but this works for all displacements in the scene

string $selected[] = `ls -type mentalraySubdivApprox`; // selects each subdivision approximation node in the scene and adds to an arry

int $size = `size ($selected)`; // creates the counter variable

for ($a=0;$a<$size;$a++) //increments thru the array

{//beginning of loop

string $name = $selected[$a]; // this variable accesses each element of select using $a as an index

addAttr -ln "miExportCCMesh" -at bool $selected[$a];

}

//END OF SCRIPT

Open the map in photoshop and tweak the levels till you can see all the detail
do you see the errors? Don't save that's just to see the map better.
Could it be the search distance of the rays comparing the low mesh to the high rez mesh is to low? Check the map export setting for search distance in zbrush or mudbox try raising it some?
Try rendering Disp maps in renderman or other renderman compliant render engine like 3Dlight. See if you get the same problems with your dispmap or not.
If you get the same error then there's a problem with the map/export settings.
Renderman is so much faster at dipsmaps then mental ray and way more stable.
3Dlight saved me from going insane with mentalray and disp maps quite awhile ago.
Look on cg talk there is quite abit on dispmap problems there.
i am no expert but hopefully something i said will help.
