Question recommendations please ? enviro/charac

Hello,
i hope someone can help me,

im interested in buying two dvds :
first, this one by David Levy,
http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/dle01.html
i saw the sample clip from it, and the instructor says hes not going into basic details or rules, like rules of colours/contrast etc it seems,
do you know a dvd that explains that stuff ?
i know a bit of these rules, but as i never painted an environment or read/seen something about the subject, i feel i need to master these basics.
would the one by Jeremy Vickery about color be useful, or do you think i can start straight with David Levy ?

secondly, i saw this one by Peter Han :
http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/bts01.html
does it show a bit of techniques ? or only the pipleine ?
and is it an clever buy if i already own the one by Barontieri ?

Thanks !
Alex

Jermey Vickery teaches you the basics of light, shadow and color. It's a must have DVD for sure.

David Levy's dvd is mostly about speed painting and creating custom brushes that will help one to work faster. It's not really a dvd that covers the basics. It's a dvd about speed and efficiency.

If you want something about painting environments, check out Ryan Church dvd's. Also get Scott Robetson's dvd on perspective.

As for Peter Han and Barontieri... I don't own them.
