Transparency maps and Light Fog ?

I have just read over the tutorial on transparency shadows, and I was wondering if anybody would know how to do this ?
I have a displaced nurbs plane which uses a 2Docean shader for displacement.
I have mapped an underwater caustic sequence to the transparency of the plane.
I created a spot light and placed it above the plane, in its position I added light fog to the spot light and scaled it.
Now how can I get the fog to shine through the caustic pattern of the plane like in the blasted wall clip on the transparency shadows tutorial ?
If anybody can help that would be great.
