Angry Underwater bubbles giving me HEADACHES !!

Hi 2 all

Ok I am about to go completely mad about this.

I am following along the Underwater dvd, specifically the scetion on bubbles.

NOW, i have created the 3 bubbles, mad them soft bodies, added the

turbulance and created a CV curve and instanced the first bubble to the

emitter. My problem starts when i get about 22 minutes in, when i get to the

section about creating random rotations.

When i create the Custom_Rotate_PP Attribute for my bubbles

and create the expression:

Bubbles_LargeShape.Custom_Rotate_PP = rand(<<0,0,0>>,<<0,360,0>>);

and add it to the rotation options for the bubbles, MY bubbles flip and face the

same direction my 3 nurbs sphere bubbles are facing.

This has become quite a big hurdle WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ???

I received an e mail saying:

"Just check for the normal up axis, it happens not only to your bubbles try
taking a plane and do a loop with it... see what happens.. just change the up
axis, like the global, local.. can't remember exactly where that tab is but
that?s the prob, i also ran into something like that. the lattica stuff is no
biggy, they shouldnj't give u any troubles just remember that if you're moving
your object move the lattice affect zone, you can grab that at the hypershade.",

Now How do i go about doing this ??

IF anybody out there can help that would be great

Thanks again

hey andy gee

it was me who wrote that email before... know that i c (read) your problem again, i realized that it's a nother topic i'm talking about. Your having trobs witht the dynamics right? I wrote about the probs when having animation with paths and their axis rotations and stuff....

what can you do then? try facing the nurbs sphere into different directions and check with wich one does it face the same way... then check the relationship between them... if you can?t find the relation try erasing all history, replace objects again with the particles (if you?re replacing particles with spheres) and try the turbulance and rotation once more... for the moment that's the only idea i can come up with at the moment... i'm at work right now so i can't look into it very deep.. i'll try and look it up later when i get some free time...

good luck hope it's useful and if not sorry for the troub before

Ok I have made some headway I think, my trouble only kicks in when I apply

the custom rotate PP expresion, thats when all my instance bubbles flip to face

the same way my nurbs spheres are pointing on there side instead of pointing

upwards. I tried Starting again and this time making my 3 bubbles facing

straight up instead of on the side and that seems to work. But its not following

the dvd so i would like to know what im doing wrong.

Hi 2 all

Have decided to give the bubbles section of the underwater dvd another try.

I always get stuck at the same point. The expression that you add for the random rotation simply doesnt work.

I altered the spheres rotational axis, and I thought that fixed it but then I realised that the bubbles didnt have the aim direction even though it was turned on.

I have looked at the scene that comes with the dvd on the bubbles even that one has a different expression which isnt even active on the large bubbles.

When it is turned on the bubbles flip also.

expression on the dvd:

Bubbles_LargeShape.Custom_Rotate_PP = rand(<<0,0,0>>,<<0,360,0>>);

expression on the dvd example scene:

Bubbles_LargeShape.Custom_Rotate_PP = <<0,rand(0,360),0>>;

so can anybody please tell me how to sort this out what expression is needed to get this working ??

Or can I just leave this section of the dvd out ??

any help on this would be great thanks.

Make sure the monitor is calibrated. I had the same issue you're experiencing with my CRT monitor. Shadows pretty much didn't exist and the image was brighter.

It's funny because I have a dual set up now (my CRT and LCD) and after doing a painting on my LCD, I move it over to my CRT and it's a lot darker then it should be. Plan to get another LCD soon cause it just kicks my CRT in the bolts.
