Default January, 2008: Sea Creature

Hello...

Here is the theme for January: Sea Creature

No size implied... something big, small, alien, octopus, dragon, squid, in a cave, in a reef, approaching a ship, attacking a sub, bothering a diver, playing with bubbles, lounging on a thermal vent... etc, etc.

Have fun and good luck!

edit:

Here are the winners for January! Congratz!

Wink Think serpent not dinosaur.

in Chinese mythology , there were different kinds of dragons . some living in clouds others in lakes, rivers, oceans, forests and mountain tops.
Asian dragons are alot more serpent like then the modern western dinosaur type dragon. In the Chinese story of the monkey god, the dragon king or god cant remember lived on the bottom of the sea. so for water dragons id think serpent not dinosaur.
Hey Wicked let me know next time u see a dragon, even if its on land or meaby just pass me what u smoking.

Maybe it's just my passion for not following rules, but I'm curious about something. Without even thinking I spent the past few days working on this project with a theme that might not be acceptable.

Does the water creature have to be in the water? For instance, my scene is the head of the loch ness monster mounted on a wall. Should have asked before spending two days on it i guess :P

As in

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/225...eature8jp5.jpg

Not complete yet as I need to add in scene fillers, but Just want to know if it's going to be allowed or not. And I'll also edit this post in future to update my images. If not, maybe I'll mount it in an underwater dwelling or something.

Edit: updated the image. didn't have much time to work on it so it's pretty bare. Thx bartending job for keeping me busy :P

Hi Vicktorious,
It's all about context. Your image can be set in any scene with any one, but the underlining concept and context should reflect the theme. For your particular image your concept was unique, but the context and environment in which the creatures head suggest that it's a woodland animal that was hunted with a gun. There is nothing in the picture that describes the animal coming from the sea. My only suggestion would be to make the entire body mounted on the wall so the viewer can see the animal's anatomy and relate certain features (such as an octopus limb, or dorsal fin) to the sea.
Hope that helps

Thx for response head. I planned on tieing it together with the room setup. Planning on a shark mounted above fireplace, a squid skin rug, window showing that it's actually a houseboat etc. . .
