Default My Entry

My entry for this month's contest. A clin d'oeil to Stanley Kubrick's Dr Strangelove.

Good luck to all.

PS: Maya and Photoshop

update: after looking at this image for a while, the buildings were clearly lame. Now that I am armed with my Gnomon DVDs I did some matte painting on the background. The image is better, I think. Also stylized the look.

This pier is a little different than others, instead of diving into some water he's diving into a portal.
This may not fit the theme the more I think of it but that's OK, I liked the idea.
Also, I realized about halfway through that it was kind of StarGate-ish, but that was not a conscious decision, lol.
I think the man could do with a little rim lighting... all the light appears to be coming from the portal, yet the man is back lit, it might be worth sticking some red or blue lighting on the walkway

I actually built lights above the walk way, fixtures and everything, but I didn't want the pic to be that tall, so there are lights, they just can't be seen.
But I may have to take another look at it and add some more.
Thanks

angeloe16 - you might want to change your background to the same motive but a different style to it. It looks like it's been hand drawn or through a photoshop filter, whilst your pier is really realistic.

also try to match the shadows beneath your pier to the shadows in the picture - just to be in the same tone.
