well blah forget it, my head hurts, my friend suggested a plausable solution which was to try and grab single objects in the scene and try to extract them... this took forever because of my computer crashing so much... but yah... here's sorta what the scene was going to look like, don't pay attention to lighting... this is just to show how the scene was supposed to kinda look if it were to run smooth...
its an oriental type dragon themed bridge...

here's what's salvaged from my broken maya files an a better idea of how the scene was supposed to look like LoL =P

so wire frames of a few things in the scene

LoL and again =P when i thought it was all over!

this is my favorite picture =P a log of how many times it crashed while i kept trying to fix it and stuff blah headache!!! if i ever meet murphy,,, of murphy's law.... its on!!! anyone with me? haha

those pictures i submitted weren't for contest entry, i know its already too late... but yah i, i didn't put all that effort into design and modeling to not get this posted so yah.... plus if you look how many hours i put into trying to savor what i could of the darn project, lol i should have just resorted on going to an earlier file and rebuild it... but silly me was stressing so much didn't think of it... now that i've calmed down i'm banging my head on my keyboard with stupidity..sdmfkasdm;mfas; maf;mf;amf;samfl; DOH!

(lesson learned... the hard way) hope you all learn from my mistake too =)

That's really unfortunate jeppers113d. Looks like you spent a lot of time on it, nice modeling from what I can see. My old PC used to crash when using MAYA all the time. My new PC BSOD's after every boot but after that I can do anything in MAYA and it won't crash. The only reason why it BSOD's is because I'm running Vista and it doesn't like some of the hardware I have. I will have to try and find me a copy of XP Pro 64bit. Vista is Windows ME all over again...nothing but a chrome plated turd.

OK, I'm done. I feel for ya.

its all good, i learned a lot from the experience, plus my fault that i don't save in consecutive numbers... i usually overwrite, but yah i'm going to make it a habit now of doing that lol... but yah i'll use this for a portfolio piece for my graduation next quarter... at least now i'll get to take my time with it rather than have like less than 2 weeks...

lol... hey Alex... wanna make the August 3D theme an oriental type theme? =P

hehe

Hey Jeepers sorry about all your computer issues it looked like some nice modeling! I started a habit a while back of modeling different parts of my model in different scenes and then i bring them all together at the end or sometimes as i go. Also just before I save a part I make sure to clear history on it, just to save on memory and render times. Good luck with it all!!! Take care!
