System Configuration

Hey everyone,

Pardon me if this post has already been made somewhere, anyways in a few days I am getting a new workstation. I did read a lot about hardware son the internet, however when It gets to GPU cards, there is such a big conflict. I will write down the specs to be clear.

Asus Sabertooth x79 motherboard
Corsair Vengence 12x4 ddr3 RAM
Intel 3.2 GHz LGA2011 Core i7-3930K Processor
nVidia Quadro 4000 GPU

Now what people are suggesting is to go for GTX 680, isn't GTX a gaming card? Isn't Quadro famous as workstation graphic cards? Adobe, Autodesk, Foundary has all suggested Quadro. Still people want me to go for a SLi GTX 680 :0
If there is anyone who has used this with Maya, Adobe Suite. Mari, etc, please please let me know. I really don't want to buy and waste a great deal of money and regret. It will be a great help to me.

i suppose you already got the machine you were looking at, but my opinion is just get the gtx card.
i have gtx card at home and use maya and adobe production. it works great. only missing hardware render functionality in some cases, but so far its not required.

at the office i have a quadro card and it can do the hardware portions. but so far, my home machine is working fine for me.

if money is no object then just get the best, but if you want to save $500 or more, then get the gtx card.

I got the Machine....YES

And I got Quadro 4k, can't game, but I have my bro's gaming rig for that.
Everything is working like a charm...
