Default July 2018: Floating Monument

Usually seen as a statue, building, or structure to commemorate a notable person or event, monuments have been around for thousands of years. They’re made from many different materials and have been shown to display extraordinary size and power. This month’s image challenge is to illustrate your version of a Floating Monument. Whether it's made over a body of water, suspended in the air, or floating in space, the choice is all yours!

Winners announced!

A floating crystal monument
Who built this and why is this in the middle of a forest? Is it even human or perhaps extraterrestrial?

The astronaut statue was supposed to be landed on moon, until the ship was shattered in pieces after a meteorite wave. Now the statue orbits the earth reminding us the brave astonauts lost that day..

Default The Gateway Floating Monument

This monument honors the discovery of the Gateway, the anomaly that transports travelers and their ships to a new galaxy, hundreds of light years from earth. Discovered by Magellan the XXVI on the outer edge of the Terran solar system, part of monument appears to float due to the wonky physics of the Gateway anomaly itself and is further enhanced by the mega magnetic metals used to construct the orbs. Thousands of pilgrims make their journey to this wonder of the galaxy before traveling through the Gateway to a new and unknown home.
