Still waiting for the digital sets to arrive, but heres the work so far:

Using Maya

I dont have the computer power to properly skin the model I've made, but hopefully the glass distortion hides most of the ugliness.

Default April contest submission

Here are my submissions for the Research Lair Contest. I would love to hear any critique, but let's keep it positive. I look forward to checking out everyones work.
Thanks everyone!
Update: I fixed the lighting. It was too bright. I think there is a greater sense of atmosphere now.

Cool NOOB alert!

I'm very new to this forum but if I can find time between work and family I would like to participate in this contest- I've been a member at the CGsociety for a bit and came across this one after looking into getting some of the Maya tutorial DVDs. So cheers~* and good luck to all.

Default April 2007: Research Lair - A scientific/alchemical abode in past, present, future

Well, this is my submission. The only software I have is Maya PLE so I am going to leave it as it is now. Anyways, hope you like it.

I really like the atmosphere you got. The lighting is great. Try using the split polygon tool and smoothing out the pillars to make them look less choppy while still getting the rivets
