Im trying to have light coming from the open door but its not working the way i want it to. Its shining through my walls lol. hhhmm only if i could get it to work.

Could you post a rendering? What software are you using? What renderer are you using?
Maybe it's a simple solution. Did you activate shadows?

I'm using Max 2009, Mental Ray. I have a feeling It's because they are planes and the light is passing thought it. I'll post a ss. Does anyone know how to do nice torch lighting with Max??

are you using dept map or ray traced shadows? if you are using depth map, you probably have an issue with the bias, you can easily fix this by placing some cubes behind the geometry causing the problem. Ps I use maya, but I think it is still relevant to what you are doing.
