Default My contest entry

Hi all. I'm very new on the scene, just signed up to the forums about 4 or 5 days ago so I quickly scratched something together to get it in before the end of the month, but I don't haver my wacom with me so I didn't texture it otherwise it would have looked like crap. I've always loved looking at unconventional methods of transport and I love the concept of the spider tank. I was just mucking about in Maya for a few hours in my spare time. It's actually a 2 parter. For a motion test, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rO7HfzTgiXM and check it out.

Default The Titan - Agamemnon

Hey guys i saw the topic and decided to post something i did last year. For my final year at industrial design, i ventured into production design. Taking Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson's book -Dune: The Butlerian Jihad, i did design work to turn it into a movie (a project for university purposes only. The end result being that I made a model of one of the characters within in the book. The character is the Titan - Agamemnon. He is an immortal, his brain has been stored in a cannister. This cannister can be plugged into various robotic forms which he can then control as his own body. Here is the model i did of his battle form, the ultimate weapon. His weaponry includes - Twin front mounted plasma flame throwers, Rapid reloading backmounted rocketlaunchers, a short range weapon called "the thumper" that was shown through illustrations only.
The model itself was internally lit using a devious construction method

sorry for the size of the post. ill resize and repost if necessary

This is not a CAD model, but a physical, 3d model

Model size is roughly 400mm x 400mm x 350mm
Scale for the concept is 1:50

Here are a few detail shots.

Digitised,

It looks nice, but I can't really see what it is Its a spider with arms, but I think its bit to dark. I know it should be dark to have the feeling you want to gife but..

Annyway maybe its just my screen which getting older

topherus,

Nice compesition but my own opinion is the color you used is to much the same, maybe because of the fog, which gifes to much brown color of the hole image.
I don't know but for me the neck looks to flat.
Nice render and like I say before nice compesition you used!

Good Luck!

ps, ty for the comments guys!

If that is a bullet, does one shoot it into someone and when it penetrates the skin it excretes the toxic fluid carried inside into the person's bloodstream? Or is there a different idea behind it?
yeah kind of, the bullets have a GPS inside to make a perfect shot when the bullets touch the objective, they expand and the needles scatter inside the body inject the fluids

ps, ty for the comments guys!

Its a six legged armored walker. All the photos were taken in a studio with no flash to emphasise the red lights i had all over it, but i had a bit of backlighting set up for most of the shots to highlight the form of it. Try cranking up the contrast a little? I could brighten the pics and reupload if a lot of people are having trouble with it.

Didnt really have much choice with the color scheme of it.. the design process narrowed it down to black and red with the red slashes on the legs / head etc to allude to a tyrannical being among other things. I tried to break it up a bit more by adding things like fire damage to the form with grey and silver and charcoal.

Heres a couple of pics from the design development that might help define the form a little better
