So this isn't exactly a control room in the sense of a room of computers, but more in the sense of a room of control. As always, in these competitions I can only find a few distraction filled days to work on this so I won't be able to completely finish, but here's what I have at the moment. Tomarrow's my only day off for a month so I want to add alot more work tomarrow but no promises.

GTpix, very nice man. I didn't know what it was at first because you are so zoomed in but after looking at the WIP I understood exactly what it was. I don't know about you, but I was totally thinking Men In Black was some motivation haha. Nice job though. Love the high-res render.

Sadly time (and other projects) are limiting my ability to work on this image. Good luck all!

lsdhillon,

The 65 dvds won on the 2 contests cover all the functions of Maya. And I didn't find the time to see all of them! But for my job, it is clear that it helps progressing and testing some new things.

For now, I just participate to the contests for fun/my portfolio/to make me progress, and not to win a thing. I hope that it reassure you.

I was wondering about photo-usage too. If you look at my WIP below, there is a large picture window and I'm not sure how to address what's outside. Modeling seems like a tremendous job - so I'm thinking about using a photo with some things on top of it in 3D as well as the foreground.
