I would highly suggest a Technical Illustration course where you will learn the most important aspects of constructing your drawing.
Learning how to draw a car and its internal parts on a drawing board was the best technical experience I ever learnt which has stuck with me all these years and all the principles I now apply in a 3D software.
Using the software is not the important bit its always the fundamentals. Took me 4 years to graduate from TI course.

Draw, draw, draw then draw some more!

Probably the best advice you will get. Practice is everything and there are no shortcuts when it comes to honing any craft.
