Default January, 2016: Space Anomaly

Hi all...

Happy new year! So I just watched the Martian a couple days ago which was super cool, plus of course The Force Awakens a few days prior to that. Which personally I thought was amazing. Thank god for that... heh. Anyhow, these films have put me in a sci-fi mood so for this month's theme we're exploring a deep space phenomenon. Your entry should be of some sort of astronomical occurrence, which can be either the dominant part of the image or more subtle (think black obelisk from 2001). Ultimately you are creating a beautiful space scene that can include planets, nebulae, asteroid belts, etc... with something unusual. Very open to interpretation... can be something plausible. Or an asteroid shaped like a duck. Anything goes really...

Good Luck!

edit: Winners Announced!

The theme for this month and the sad event of Mr. David Bowie's death made me connect "Space Anomaly" with "Space Oddity".
So here's my entry for this month, an image that shows how I, as a kid, imagined Major Tom, daring to leave his space capsule for a space walk above a big blue Earth and then something going wrong...
Hope he finds his Black Star up there...
Cheers.

Default The Center

Created two original fractals in Apophysis (free software for fractal creation), then went into Photoshop to edit, cut, flip, distort, liquify and paint with custom brushes. Here is "The Center"
