Well, this is my first contest in this forum. I saw the movie last week and was very excited to discover the announcement of this challenge. Good luck to everyone. Here is what I am working on. As I watched the movie and I thought that it related very much to dinosaur movies and themes that we've seen in the past. Lush vegetation, big menacing creatures etc. That is what is driving my idea for this contest. I also liked the idea of creating something that could be ridden by an avatar or pandoran inhabitant.

Hey everyone. Just a quick update for the contest. Worked in some basic muscles and refining basic shape. Added some finn elements like some of the creatures in the movie. Ideas are welcome.

More details and I think I got the finns to where I want them. I am thinking of omitting the second pair of arms completely. Not sure. Some ideas on that matter would be helpful.

Default Zebra-Moros

Hi, Avatar is a really cool movie and so I will give this contest a try, too.
This is actually the first contest I am taking part in...

This is my pandorian creature:

The Zebra-Moros (Moros is the sister of Thanatos according to the greek mythology).

The basemesh was done in Softimage, modeling in ZBrush and the rest is
Photoshop.

Hope you like it.

OK, Decided to go with a different approach to the finns. I think they look more aggressive. Also keeping with Avatar tradition I kept the four small arms in the front instead of just two. Applied some skin scale texture. I will erase some from the real fleshy areas like underneath the torso, and neck region. Also need to add the teeth, claws, scars, color and pose. Still some work.

Guys I would be careful posting up a ton of images of your Creatures. There have been a couple of times that i have seen them pull one of the earlier images and judge that rather then the final. You should start a Work in Progress thread rather then doing it here. Not trying to moderate or anything just would hate to see someone miss out on there best work getting judged because of a mistake.

Good luck everyone, don't think I will have time to enter this month though i would love to. It would be a LOT of fun and I would get a chance to really dive into Mudbox!
