Here we go again.

I wasn't questioning samrkennedys skills. As I've said many time before, there are a lot of very talented artists that participate in these contests...as well as plagiarists, and artists that use Poser, slap some textures on it, call it done, and snag a prize for it...or other methods that can be seen as shortcuts.

Imo, a person that uses Poser doesn't really want to improve there modeling skills. I can understand using it as a base mesh, or concepting, etc. It's pretty much the same as taking a 2d character concept someone else did, pasting it onto maybe a background you did and saying 'hey, here's my artwork I did, whaddaya think?'.

This has been debated about on and off, from almost the beginning of these contests. That should tell you something. Yes, some are just sore losers, but others are very talented, and have worked their asses off, and didn't take any short cuts...with great ideas as well. And no, I'm not talking about myself...just my observations.

these models are so sweet! im pretty bummed i wont have time to make up a new image this month.

just wanna throw this out there. if everyone had to put up a WIP it would help noobs like myself to better see how everyone puts together their images. i would especially like to see how much effort is put in and get the chance to admire the details.

but now that i think about it, this wouldnt work very well because then your spending time documenting steps in your image, as if making the actual image isnt time consuming enough. maybe a required wire frame render wouldnt be a bad idea though.

ps were can i find a good pre-made human model?

Default battle-worn street brawler.

here is my mesh i'm working for this contest. just modeling in maya.
my entry will be a "battle worn" street fighter whose body tells his story by way of scars, bruises, and cuts, etc.

so obviously you won't get much from this screen as the texturing will be added later. just wanted to post some progress.

Default Battle Worn

I've had part of the idea in my head for some time. Other then the idea for the position of the droid, everything is new for this theme.

My entry for this months contest. I had done this for an earlier contest, where offcourse it did not place. But I guess it fits here too, since Alex mentioned its wide open.

Guys please let me know if image appears too dark. Good Luck all.

I have edited this post and added the wireframe for the image because I just realized how much everybody loves wireframes.

Default battle.

Hi to all of you. that is the first time i participate in this great forum.
i like this forum because every month i watch many beautiful and interesting creations from all of you. (3d and 2d also).

i am happy to share with you those two characters i m working on the last months for my school- academy final project. this project fits 100% with the battle contest because it is going to be a battle between the good and the evil in a grand game of chess. by the way the environment in my project is completely different with that. the common idea is that those two forces want to ruin the world. my target is to animate it as good as it is possible.

this picture was made just for this contest and it is not ready yet, but i would like post it for reading your comments. also it could be great to give me some ideas or technical instructions to improve it ... why not ?

i hope to finish this image soon and describe you the personality and the character of those two.

(PLUS ....how can i upload a full resolution image??????) (this seems a little bit like low res.. or compressed)

made with 3dsmax .

good luck to all !!!
