Tips for decreasing rendering time
Hi guys,
I was reading Maya/Mental Ray documentation to find some clues to decresing rendering time, and I´ve found 2:
1 - "The mental ray IPR and the Auto Render Threads option in Render > Render Current Frame > option > and Render > Batch Render > option do not distinguish between dual core CPU's and hyperthreading. Therefore, these options report all virtual CPU's as available threads."
2 - Saving images in MAP format (Window > Preferences > Rendering > Use optimized textures (auto-conversion)).
I rendered a image with 10% of final size to test. Rhe original time was 14:39. With no hyperthread, 17:01 and without hyperthread and with all textures in MAP format, 17:08...
Am I making something wrong, or these clues doesn´t work? Anybody has experience in decreasing Mental Ray render time in Maya? I´m using 2013 version, 64bit, student license.
Thanks,
