outter space environment

I'm trying to follow the tutorial for outter space envirn but on the section where he creates particle clouds by painting on the nurbs surface doesnt work for me.

the particles emit, but they will emit from the entire sphere instead of just the painted area.

i watched it 5 times over and I dont think I missed a step but there doesnt seem to be anything connecting the painted area to the emitter directly.

any help?

I wonder if it is because I am missing the file:

E:\John's Documents\maya\projects\DynamicsDVD_01\\3dPaintTex tures\orbit_shipFlight\glob_emitterSphereShape_col or2.tif

alright, I solved it myself.

If you have the same problem, use the file called:

globe_emitterSphereShape_color.tif

found in the 3dpainttextures folder.
