Hi there,
I have seen some impressive work online recently which has made me literally say "wow". This has moptivated me to learn how to be a CG artist, however i have no idea where to start. I have tried various tasks on 3ds max and zbrush but never actually made anything to impressive.

Basically, I'm just wondeirng if any of you in this community can help me in any way whatsoever, maybe some recomended tutorials? After reading a few similar posts to mine, I decided to buy an anatomy book. My main aim is to be able to make the human body, in my opinion, if i achieve this then you can do practically anything :D

Many thanks
Mika

Oh, I have tried box modelling characters and out of cylinders, however, I recently heard from a friend that some of the best CG artists model completely out of polygons. I saw one movie of this and he used no reference sheets but got the male body proportions, depth etc absolutely perfect. This has puzzled me though, as I would love to know if he's just modelled so many times it comes natural, or if he just... guessed?

Sorry for the wal of text :D

Dont be sorry for the wall of text, I wish people would post more information on what they're looking for anyways.

If you are looking to go into poly modeling, I'd suggest the Modeling the Human Head DVD from Gnomon, or the Human Anatomy Modeling dvd from freedom-of-teach.com

Many modelers came from a sculpting/drawing background. They've done drawing/sculpting so long that they have developed a sense of what's right. He definitely isn't just "guessing."
