Do you use Corel Painter or Adobe Photoshop? And what are the reasons you chose one over the other. Thanks I just don't want to spend more money on something I don't need.

I personally use PS. I have never tried painter because PS works well for me. You will find many pro's switching between both programs becuase each program has it's strenghs and weaknesses. The decision is up to you.

Let's have some painter people express their ideas.:)

From what I understand, you'll find many who use Painter, use it because they know how to use traditional media and Painter does a pretty good job of simulating it. You can also mix colours on a palette, like traditional media and better emulate real brushes and brush work...again, just like traditional media.

I prefer Photoshop, primarily because I've never had any art training, I don't have any experience with traditional media, and for my needs, I am very comfortable with Photoshop, and see no reason to switch now that I've been using it for a number of years.

I think both programs have their fans and detractors. Kind of like the old Mac vs. PC debate.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I will just try to spend some time with them at my university before I decide to make a purchase.
