I just got the gnomon zbrush pipeline dvd and dont understand why meats meier didnt use the zmapper for his normal map. is it because the plugin wasnt out yet?
another thing, the shader node set up for the normal map in maya is complex and it seems to only have a place to map in the normals. i want to use both normals and displacment. were do i map the displacment to. i am also rendering in mental ray. if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Well, you can load a normal map like you would a normal bump map in Maya. Then in the bump map node, switch from bump to normal map. Then, you can load a displacement map into the shading group node. I believe mental ray will interpret the native maya nodes correctly.

thanks for the reply but it realy didnt help. my question was in regards to the network set up in the shader that meats uses for the normals and i was still wondering why he didnt use zmapper. i guess what i am trying to find out is the best way to render both displacment and normals in maya from zbrush.
