Hi all.....
my first post on these forums..........
this is something I whipped up in maya and zbrush. Eenvironment was modelled in maya, creature made in zbrush, combined lit and rendered in maya, then overpainted in zbrush again. wasnt too sure if this should be in the 2d catagory ????? as its not "entirely" 3d.
happy to move it to the 2d section if thats the case......anyway here goes.
its kina what you wouldnt want to find at the end of a tunnel.
could be titled..........
"DAVE DIDNT ENJOY THE EFFECTS OF SUB SPACE TRAVEL"

There are a couple of entries that don't actually show a tunnel. I got the idea from the book The Hobbit by J.R.R.Tolkien. The beginning of the books reads, ?It had a perfectly round door like porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel?.? If its not exceptable, its cool, but we shall meet again next month non the less.
Apresto;)

just wondering when this contest ends? 31st? I made sortof an old in the mountains tunnel. not the best but i just started 3-d last week. anyways its at school right now so i have to wait till next week to submit it.
So far i love the DvDs i bought from this site even though i am on the second of 5 and it wont play on my computer. (its the creature head modeling one for maya) I got me 5 dvds to start me off in maya and we use cinima 4d at school. so i am diving head first into this 3-d stuff (i have 4 years of sculpting classes to help though). I could really use some more DvDs and plan on submitting an entry each month to win me some more :)

Dear Pafi3a; don't be a douche. If someone's entry is too good for you, making negative comments about it is only gonna make it obviuos to the rest. Just put your entry in and let the judges decide.

Dear "klumsyk": i'm not a douche. i don't judge any1 work. i see "3dGypsy" like a little the simple abstract style, in fact is a positive comment, i wish to publish my work but for 3 days i collect/sellect my files from PC for ReBoot.

Hi everybody !!!!
here is my "space tunnel" entrie.
Only my space sky and the final compositing are done with photoshop.... the rest of the image (tunnel, planets, asteroids, space ships etc, lights, textures and renders) is in 3D (MAYA).
Usually I don't like lens flare photoshop FX but in this case for the space environement I think it works good.
Here is 2 versions of the final illustration .... hope you like it.
C&C welcome.

Hello All:) ,
It's my try. It inspired by Giger, Moebius, Druillet and a little bit of Neil Blevins too!
All textures are generated with procedurals.
Hope you will like it..
Maybe there's the secret of life at the end of the tunnel...Who knows.
Update Contrast color....must check my monitor....

Hi everyone!
This is my first post in this forum, and hopefully there will be more to come.
I decided to join this month contest, I really liked the possibilities of the concept.
My idea was to create a very humid tunnel, where the light played an important element. I did several 3d passes with XSI, and finally comped it with Photoshop

Let me know what you guys think!

These are robots cleaning out the arteries to the heart to prevent blockage. Which if blocked would cause a heart attack. They have a laser that heats up the fat build-up. The two front arms scrap the walls of the artery then shoot back over the top, fling the fat up to be carried away by the bloods current. It would be a painless operation.

Hi everyone.
Ok, January is over, so time to stop the submissions. We will be reviewing them in the next few days and should have the winners posted by Monday. I'm extremely impressed with all of the great interpretations of the theme. Thanks to everyone who participated. :)

They combine the 2d and 3d images for the contest. The other images are in the 2d thread. I noticed they didn't pick a single 3d image. Maybe they forgot about the 3d thread?

Hiya... we didn't forget...
But we are thinking about separating 2D + 3D into the future with different themes for each, as it is clear that while 2D artists can execute a finished piece in a matter of hours, 3D is an entirely different beast. While the February contest will follow the same rules, for March we will likely switch. With that said, several 3D entries made it to the last round of selections and I wish that we could give prizes to everyone... thanks again to everyone who participated. :)
