nice work everyone! looking real good...hope to have my entry up soon..if i ever start it :) ... Wasker - i think that "Klumsyk" was refering to it being hard to get a good photo of his piece because it was such a large oil painting..not that he needed a good photo of referance for the figure :)

Nice piece. I like the warped perspective. Maybe it would be nice to see a stronger level of contrast between your lights and darks. Your colour pallette seems a little muted on my screen (could be the way my screen is calibrated). Maybe push the contrast colours a little more and make some of the darks darker. All in all I like the piece very much! Good Luck!! :) I hope that was remotely helpfull...

Hi:
thought it was time to throw my hat in the ring......reasonably quick conceptual piece...50% photoshop, 50% painter.
I went for more of an urban tunnel system - linking skyscraper motorways.
tried using the rotated horizon to add feeling of a banking craft .....anyways, here it is, welcome any crits.

Hey Vahe maybe you should create a painting that doesnt have one of Dylan Coles Matte Paintings as your sky. Doing things like that can give you a bad wrap in the cg industry.
This is someone elses art work.

If you are going to use photos in your work make sure you took them or they are royalty free for everyone to use.
And if you want to have your image show up on the thread without having to click the tab , click on the little yellow button with the 2 mountians in it , it will allow you to post a link in there. Just make sure you use a site like www.imageshack.us to host it first , very easy :)

Hi,
Inspired by Ryan Church DVD (got for Xmas) found the website and decided to try my hand at painting in Photoshop...lot more difficult than it looks. I have no idea how some of you guys create the work you do, i'm in awe.
On reflection I made so many mistakes painting this picture, but on the other hand learned so much...i'm hooked!
Any way this is my entry, my very first digital painting.
The caption should read - "Well Daisy I guess this is the so called 'tunnel of death' that's spooking the locals.....as I thought just another stupid rock-monter....do ya think we have enough explosives? Ha! lets turn this thing to dust."

Wow, I am very impressed with the amount and the quality of this months entries. Way to get everyone motivated GNOMON. My entry is a laborious project that I have worked on here and there for many years. The image is almost entirely done in oils on an 18" x 24" canvas, but there is a little Photoshop clean-up and finishing work to repair damaged areas and add a little color and detailing to certain areas.
Thanks,
Dan

Sorry but the last image is showing a bit to bright for my taste. I hope this one works better. Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone.
Ok, January is over, so time to stop the submissions. We will be reviewing them in the next few days and should have the winners posted by Monday. I'm extremely impressed with all of the great interpretations of the theme. Thanks to everyone who participated. :)

Love that picture, Klumsyk. Nice colors. One crit, why use photo? Pratice anatomy and draw a human from every possible angle (and impossible angles) there is :)
I am flattered and thank you. Let me just tell you honestly that I didnt use reference for this painting, except for the head, which I referenced for light and shadow from a flickr photo. CHeerio. Again, thank you for the comment.
