Hello everyone and welcome to the Gnomon Workshop community forum.

First off, it is not our intention to become a discussion/critique/cgnews spot. For that there are many great forums across the net, especially CGtalk: http://www.cgtalk.com.

These forums exist for two purposes...

1. To launch a monthly community challenge for Gnomon Workshop DVDs.

2. To share announcements and event information pertaining to The Gnomon Workshop.

Please respect these intentions and please keep things civil. Forums often require some level of moderation in order to keep things organized, focused and constructive. This is not a place to be evil, bash people, gripe or generally be negative. If posts are found that meet these descriptions or are off-topic, we will remove them. We're trying to keep things simple here...

If you are looking for customer support on our DVDs, please email admin@thegnomonworkshop.com

Hi,

What about technichal support on the Dvds?

What if we want to ask the instructor a question regarding his lecture?

I agree that a forum open to those who have purchased any of the Gnomon Workshop DVDs to ask questions of the instructors would be a HUGE help...just in case one vote might sway you.

Thanks,
jeff@nasa

Hiya... well, I of course agree that this would be cool, but the problem of course is that The Gnomon Workshop library has DVDs by close to 50 instructors, all of whom have full-time production jobs... so it is very unlikely that if we opened something like this, that our instructors would be able to respond to questions about their DVDs in a timely fashion... I think some would be able to, but definitely not the majority. Once the forum has been up for a little while and we see how it goes, perhaps I can bring this idea up with some of our instructors... :)

We'll see... perhaps. In the meantime, however, if support is needed on a DVD, the best thing to do is to email us as mentioned above. :)

I am glad to say hello to all of you guys. Good idea with this forum....
If I can have an opinion about the technical support for dvds... I think it's a good idea but if we'd be in matrix 'cause otherwise would be very hard to satisfy the huge community around those dvd's.

heil gnomon!!:D

Alternatively each DVD can have a (help) thread where everyone can discuss and help others out by answering question where others have issues. These threads can be started by anyone having an issue with any particular DVD. Maybe that will help to some extent, rather than giving admin and instructors more work.:)

Can we have a forum for comments and rating of the DVDs? Because sometimes we bought the DVDs and found out that the content is not as what we expected from the descriptions on the website. It will be nice if we know more about the DVDs before the purchase.

Cool site. Love the DVD's.

I think it would be cool if some 2D animation DVD's were made.

I also think that it would be cool to try to get some Japanese artists like Tetsuya Nomura, Ayami Kojima, Yoshitaka Amano, and Akira Toriyama. Just get a translator and it's all good. :)

Other wise, good site and keep up the good work. It's a good investment.

Hey guys, thanks for a great resource! Something that Ive been thinking about some time is that it would be so damn cool if you could convince H.R Giger to make Airbrush tutorial DVDs.

Any news on this DVD? Something I am really looking forward to. It was slated for a March release, my guess that is probably not going to happen, but an update would be nice.

Hello Mr. Alvarez,

The above quote is in ref to Craig Mullins impending DVD release, any updated time line on when they are due?

Looking forward to more from Vyle and Sparth too.

My Gnomon DVD's have changed everything about art for me. Digital put me back at square one, Gnomon is really helping to make it a fun journey.

Anyway, about that Mullins DVD...?

You can get that on Amazon for a great many vid's sold here. Or you can just make sure it's what you need by doing more research on the DVD's themselves. The site gives plenty of info on each product.

On line comment and critique is so mob rule and motivated I'd cringe to see it if it broke down for even a single thread here. Artists come here to generate a product and a service. Rating systems while well intentioned, would grow to undermine the whole concept.

The folks at Gnomon have excellent taste and judgement, that's all the comment and critique I need. 22 Gnomon DVD's on my shelf, all 5 star.

Money back guarantees cover the rest.

It's all JMO.

Hi guys,

Robert from Romania here, nice to meet you all. Been working in Max for a few years now and Gnomon has helped me a lot. Unfortunately they do no ship the dvd's to our country (or at least that was a long time ago) so i had to buy some from Germany instead.

Congrats to mister Alvarez and the Gnomon team for such high quality material.
Respect

I finally made a commitment to go to the SIGGRAPH this year. I was wondering how far the shop is from the conference?

I'm interested in a tour of the School... Being in LA for the conference would be a great opportunity for me to check it out.

Thanks
