Hi all...

so we have just launched the new Gnomon Online site...

We will begin offering online courses in January, with more of the Gnomon curriculum moving online over the course of the year. :)

http://www.gnomononline.com

Would love to hear your feedback and thoughts.

wow.. definitely a step up from the old site. Congrats on the new site. I have a few questions... the first one is.. is it going to break the bank? I'm already taking courses with FXPHD but would love more Maya/3d courses and you guys are "it" when it comes to that. I'm hoping it's a fraction of the cost of the campus curriculum. The second question is I was looking at the courses listed for the first term. Does a student only pick one course for the term and that's it? Or are all of those courses available to each student when they sign up? Lastly, is the G.O. accredited? It would be great if students could have the ability to buy student versions of the software in an effort to help them in their studies and I think that can only be done if the institution is accredited in some way or has a MOU or something with a reseller like Journeyed.com

This sounds absolutely amazing!

Any idea on prices as of yet?
Do you get some sort of recognition for the completion of a class. Any discounts on buying multiple classes? I found atleast 3 that I would enjoy taking.

pricing will be announced when registration opens December 4th...

as far as recognition for completing the classes, for students enrolled in our fulltime certificate program, they are allowed to take online courses for credit.

extension students (those just taking individual classes), will get a letter that confirms they took the class including their grade and instructor evaluation.

This is the news I've been waiting for since I first heard of Gnomon so I'm completely stoked.

Will participants qualify for academic pricing on software apps?

according to the faqs page on their site you will.

Yeah, I checked the FAQ's and I only recall it stated something about 'assisting financially' (or words to that effect) so I wasn't quite sure exactly what that meant.

Anyone care to speculate on what the courses are going to cost? I'd imagine they'd cost a lot less than the classes where you actually attend the facility but maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

It looks like the prices are up and a 10 week course costs $1,650. I'm kind of surprises at this as the 10 week conventional intro 2 Maya course costs $1,250?

I realise that there must be a lot of setup costs but I was assuming that could easily be offset against the number of people who would of registered. Anyhow, I don't beleive I can afford to register with any of the classes at these prices but I'm sure that plenty of folk will.

Maybe in a years time when there's about 4USD to 1GBP!
