http://gnomonology.com/upload/tutorial_thumb/285/main.jpgJustin Sweet’s bio says he is a noted fantasy artist and that some of his clients include Disney, National Geographic, Wizards of the Coast, Tor, DelRey and Wandering Star.
What his bio doesn’t say is that Justin Sweet has a simply amazing approach to creating artwork.
For the first few minutes of this tutorial it is not clear what is going to come up out of the constant seeking of his pencil.* He sketches very loosely, almost gesturally until he finds a shape that works for him.
From that point on he works from broad to smaller shapes and refines the painting.* All through the process, though, he keeps the painting loose and leaves marks of his process here and there.* The end result is a painting that almost has its own heart beat.
