Ok everyone... time for the November contest thread.
This month's theme is the landscape.
Bear in mind that this doesn't necessarily mean 'earth' as seen by 'human' eyes.
Contest ends November 30th. :)
edit:
Ok, so here are the winners!

Mike Corriero, your submission is really amazing... ! For a sec I thought Christian Lorenz Scheurer had entered the contest. ;)
Congratz everyone... so much cool stuff. Dec contest coming soon...

@ arvizard: Well I'm not really liking the foreground elements. Landscapes are generally about an expanse of land. It's a little ambiguous but I'd say that you've depicted a tree on top of a rock for the foreground. For the background you've used a matte painting to show distant mountains.
I'd recommend that you layout your image so that there is a couple of 'foreground' trees, that lead into multiple mid ground trees, which lead into the background. Putting them on interesting terrain would also help alot in unifying the image. Right now, there's just a huge amount of contrast from the foreground to the background.

Hi,
Here's my entry. Ok, this is not really a landscape. It's only a small part of it, but I just completed this image this week and saw this contest so I thought... why not give it a try. If you think it doesn't fit into the category, then you can remove it.
I modelled the plants in XFrog (not pre-made plants). The plant textures are painted in Photoshop. The ground, pumpkin, and mushroom textures are GroundWiz. The pumpkins were created in Rhino. Rendered in Max using Vray.

I hope this counts as a landscape since 1/4 of a planet surface is part of the image. :)
This was created for my portfolio awhile back. It's my first space themed piece. I used Maya, Mental Ray and Photoshop.

I created the geometry in Cinema 4d 9.0 and painted the rest in Photoshop using a Wacom Graphire II.
And a few wireframes for the heck of it...

Hi, I'm Rian. Doing this design actually a lot of fun, like create a new world for my lovely pet, the white rabbit as we can see there, just leave a little bit green grass for him , :>. The props and environment design is created by maya7 & finally touch up with photoshop & add in the rabbit . Thank u.
