On the heels of the first, super successful workshop event, The Gnomon Workshop presented our second workshop weekend, February 18th and 19th. It was great way to kick off the new year, featuring speakers in and out of the Gnomon Workshop library, presenting on subjects including creature design, Photoshop, Painter, Shake, concept design and modeling. In addition, attendees also get a chance to meet some highly accomplished artists who took them inside their own personal projects, businesses and processes.
The legendary Syd Mead presented his working process, along with Mark Goerner, Chris Nichols, Mark Lefitz, Feng Zhu, Taron, Sparth, J.P. Targete, Aaron Sims and Puddnhead. These artists have influenced the landscape of concept design, visual effects and game design. In addition, they've produced some seminal books and DVDs (that were also available during the event).
We also again held our recruiting room (last time, a couple studios hired a few of our attendees). This was a great opportunity to meet recruiters, supervisors and art directors. Represented studios included Bungie, Disney Feature Animation, Digital Domain, Sony Pictures Imageworks, NC Soft, Radium, Rhythm and Hues, and Electronic Arts.
Saturday night we were entertained and thrilled by the performance of Cirque Berserk. Several beautiful ladies and a couple strange fellows amazed us with bits of burlesque, contortion, dance, mid-air feats and musique. Check them out online at http://www.cirqueberzerk.com.
We'll be posting images from the event, but if anyone has pics to share, please do!
